Presidential Election 2025: Tidjane Thiam Calls for National Mobilization

Tidjane Thiam, president of the PDCI, urged his party's members and supporters to fully engage in the preparation for the 2025 presidential elections. During a rally held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Charles Donwahi Square in Soubré, he encouraged participants to reach out to every locality in Côte d'Ivoire to raise awareness among the population. "Invest in every city, every village, and every camp. Raise awareness among our brothers and sisters. We will help them obtain their national identity cards so they can register en masse on the electoral lists," he stated.

Addressing a large crowd that came to hear him, Tidjane Thiam emphasized the mission of PDCI militants: to carry a message of unity, togetherness, and peace throughout the country. He also reaffirmed the PDCI's intent to gain power, not to seize it, but to improve the living conditions of Ivorians. "The PDCI wants power, not to seize it but to use it to improve the fate of Ivorians," he asserted.

Thiam, the successor of Henri Konan Bédié at the head of the PDCI, highlighted the party's dynamism, noting that it has been experiencing a wave of massive new memberships, with several thousand already joining. He also extended an invitation to those who have stayed away from politics, encouraging them to join the PDCI ranks. "The doors of our party remain open. Come back and get involved so that together we can continue the work of rebuilding our country," he declared.

With less than two years until the presidential election, Tidjane Thiam, affectionately nicknamed "Titi" by the militants, urged Ivorians to keep hope and trust in the capacity of the PDCI, a seventy-year-old party, to lead the country toward a better future. From Soubré, he launched what he hopes will be remembered as the Soubré Appeal: "A solemn call for the unity of the sons of the Bas-Sassandra region and beyond, all the sons and daughters of our beautiful country. Together, let's get ready for the 2025 victory of the PDCI," he proclaimed
