Cheick Cissé Sallah Junior

Cheick Cissé Sallah Junior, born September 19, 1993 in Abidjan, Côte d`Ivoire, is an international taekwondo champion.

Three-time African champion, runner-up in the World University Championship, runner-up in the World Team Championship, he is also the first and only Ivorian to win a Grand Prix gold medal.

Number 3 in the Olympic rankings, he qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the -80 kilos category and won the gold medal by beating the British Lutalo Muhammad, thus becoming the first Olympic champion in the history of his country, Côte d'Ivoire, on August 20, 2016.

 

A gold medallist at the 2015 African Games, the 2015 Taekwondo Grand Prix in Moscow and the 2016 African Taekwondo Championships in Port Said (Egypt), Cheick Cissé was certainly a medal hopeful for Côte d'Ivoire at the Rio Games.
