Maracana Bissau 2025: Triumphant Return of the Ivorian Maracana Elephants, 10-Time African Champions

It was a homecoming filled with pride and emotion. The Ivorian Maracana Elephants, newly crowned 10-time African champions at the 11th edition of the African Cup of Nations of Maracana (Mara’CAN), returned to Abidjan on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. After a thrilling 4-3 victory over Mali in extra time in the final held in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, the champions were met with great excitement by supporters and national sports authorities.

Congratulations from the highest levels of the State
Led by Bleu Charlemagne, President of the International Maracana Federation (FIMAA), the Ivorian delegation received a warm welcome upon arrival at Abidjan International Airport. The National Committee for the Support of the Elephants (CNSE), along with many enthusiastic fans, came out in force to celebrate the champions’ remarkable achievement.

Among the distinguished guests present were Mr. Diallo Adamah Kalil, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Sports and Quality of Life; Mr. Adama Doumbia, Director General of OISSU; Mr. Patrice Remarck, Director General of CSCTICAO; and Dr. Serge Ayekoué, Director of Federal Life and High-Level Sports.

Following their triumphant arrival, the Elephants were honored at the Palm Club Hotel in Abidjan. On this occasion, the Ministry of Sports and Quality of Life conveyed, on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara and Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, the nation’s heartfelt congratulations.
