Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has invited former Ivorian international Didier Drogba to serve as ambassador for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to official sources following a meeting held in Dar es Salaam.
The former captain of Côte d’Ivoire’s national team was in Tanzania at the request of the Ministry of Sports as part of discussions focused on football development and the promotion of sports initiatives in the country.
According to the Tanzanian presidency, the invitation is part of efforts to enhance the visibility of AFCON 2027, which Tanzania will co-host with other countries in the region.
