The Ivorian government has set the farm gate price for the 2024-2025 coffee and cocoa marketing season at 1,500 FCFA per kilogram for coffee and 1,800 FCFA per kilogram for cocoa. This announcement was made by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food Production, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, at the conclusion of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC 2024) held in Abidjan on September 30, 2024.

According to the Minister, these prices were established as part of a strategic cooperation with Ghana to harmonize production, marketing policies, and price setting. For the upcoming campaign, which begins on October 1, 2024, the price of well-fermented, well-sorted, and well-dried cocoa is set at 1,800 FCFA per kilogram, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous mid-season price.

As for coffee, to maintain balance with cocoa and further encourage production, the government has raised the price of well-dried, well-hulled, and well-sorted coffee to 1,500 FCFA per kilogram for the 2024-2025 season, marking a 55% increase from the previous season.

Minister Adjoumani also emphasized the government's commitment to the well-being of farmers. Under the direction of the President, the government has introduced a new measure whereby all registered coffee and cocoa farmers, as well as their families, will receive free Universal Health Coverage (CMU). This coverage will be provided by the Coffee-Cocoa Council, with a total allocation of 1 billion FCFA per month.

Farmers who have yet to register are urged to do so promptly to benefit from the insurance services. This new initiative is seen as a significant step toward improving the livelihoods of coffee and cocoa producers in Côte d'Ivoire.
