A delegation from Dutch customs authorities visits the Autonomous Port of Abidjan

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA) hosted a delegation from the Customs Authorities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for a working visit aimed at strengthening customs and port cooperation. This strategic meeting is part of efforts to secure and streamline the flow of goods between the two countries.

The delegation was led by Ms. Karin BORSBOOM, Director of International Affairs at Dutch Customs, and accompanied by Colonel KOUADIO AKÉ José-Nicole, representing the Permanent Secretariat of the Interministerial Committee for State Action at Sea (SEPCIM-AEM). They were welcomed by Colonel COFFI YAO Emmanuel, Commander of the Port of Abidjan.

Also present were Dr. Titi PALÉ Epse KOUMAN, Commercial, Marketing, and Communications Director, as well as officials from the PAA Special Police and the Ivorian Customs Administration.

Discussions focused on key issues related to securing logistics flows and combating illicit trafficking, particularly drug trafficking a challenge shared by many ports worldwide. The talks identified concrete areas of collaboration to strengthen control systems and operational cooperation.

Representatives of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan also highlighted recent improvements at the port, supported by major investments and modernized infrastructure, which enhance its competitiveness and attractiveness as a major logistics hub in West Africa.

During the visit, Colonel COFFI YAO Emmanuel reaffirmed the PAA’s commitment to promoting a secure, efficient, and internationally compliant port environment.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties praised the quality of the exchanges and expressed their willingness to continue this collaboration in a more formal framework, aiming to consolidate the security and smooth flow of trade between Côte d’Ivoire and the Netherlands.
