AfCFTA and European Union Strengthen Partnership with New MoU to Boost Trade and Investment Cooperation

Today in Addis Ababa, the AfCFTA Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Union on the margins of the EU–Ethiopia Business Forum, reinforcing their partnership to support the implementation of the AfCFTA.

In his opening remarks at the Forum, H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, underscored that the AfCFTA is advancing a predictable, rules-based continental market, strengthening Africa’s position as a competitive investment destination.

The MoU, signed by the Secretary-General and EU Commissioner Jozef Síkela, reflects a maturing Africa–EU partnership, with a growing focus on trade and investment cooperation anchored in mutual interests and shared commitment.
