Australian company Eminence Minerals targets five gold exploration projects in Côte d’Ivoire

Australian company Eminence Minerals has signed agreements giving it the option to acquire up to an 85% stake in five gold exploration projects covering a combined 1,508 square kilometres in Côte d’Ivoire, strengthening its presence in one of West Africa’s key gold-producing countries.

The agreements cover projects in the north and west of the country, in areas close to established mines and major gold discoveries, including Tongon, Boundiali, Koné, Séguéla and Ity, according to information reported by Sika Finance.

The five projects — Tarato, Kounouman, Banandjé, Sarhala and Tonkpi — form part of a broader exploration strategy aimed at identifying new gold resources. The company’s agreements allow it to increase its ownership progressively, subject to contractual conditions and applicable approvals.

The portfolio covers approximately 1,508 square kilometres. Four permits, covering about 871 square kilometres, have already been granted, while five additional permit applications remain under consideration, according to reports on the transaction.

Eminence Minerals plans to assess existing geological information and conduct exploration work to identify areas with potential for further investigation. Activities may include geological mapping, sampling and, depending on the results, drilling.

The company’s entry into these areas reflects continued interest in Côte d’Ivoire’s gold potential. The country has attracted international mining investment in recent years, supported by established operations and exploration opportunities across several geological belts.

However, proximity to existing mines and discoveries does not establish that the five projects contain commercially viable gold deposits. Their economic potential will depend on the results of exploration, including drilling, as well as future technical assessments and the costs of developing any discoveries.

The agreements therefore represent an expansion of Eminence Minerals’ exploration portfolio rather than the acquisition of five producing gold mines. No commercially recoverable deposits have been confirmed by the announcement.

Further exploration results will be important in determining whether the projects can advance towards resource estimates and, ultimately, potential mine development.
