BRVM continues upward trend as key stocks drive market gains
The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) extended its positive momentum on Tuesday, closing the trading session in positive territory.
The benchmark BRVM Composite index rose by 0.80% to 463.89 points. The BRVM-30 index increased by 0.49% to 217.73 points, while the BRVM Prestige index gained 0.47% to reach 176.56 points.
Despite a market dominated by declines, with 24 stocks falling compared with 14 gaining, overall performance was supported by strong advances from several companies.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo (ETIT) recorded a 6.00% increase to CFA 53 per share, extending its upward trend since the beginning of the year. TotalEnergies Senegal also posted a strong performance, rising 7.14% to CFA 4,500.
Unilever Côte d’Ivoire recorded the strongest gain of the session, climbing 7.47% to CFA 53,735 per share.
On the downside, Erium posted the largest decline of the day, falling 7.49% to CFA 2,160. Sicable dropped 7.46% to CFA 4,155, followed by CFAO Motors Côte d’Ivoire, which declined 7.25% to CFA 1,600, and Uniwax Côte d’Ivoire, which lost 6.10% to CFA 1,385.
Trading activity remained strong, with total transactions exceeding the CFA 3 billion mark. The value of traded securities reached CFA 3.41 billion.
Ecobank Côte d’Ivoire was the most actively traded stock, gaining 0.85% to CFA 16,640 and accounting for 46.59% of total trading volume, representing CFA 1.59 billion in transactions.
