Côte d’Ivoire secures €103.14 million funding for PROSER II electricity expansion programme

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a financing package of €103.14 million (approximately 67.65 billion CFA francs) for the second phase of the Electricity Access Expansion Support Programme (PROSER II) in Côte d’Ivoire.

The programme aims to expand electricity access across the country, with a target of connecting more than 100,000 households to the national electricity grid.

PROSER II is part of Côte d’Ivoire’s broader strategy to strengthen energy access, reduce territorial inequalities, and support socio-economic development through reliable electricity supply.

The project will focus on extending medium- and low-voltage distribution networks, improving infrastructure in rural and peri-urban areas, and enhancing the reliability and stability of electricity services.

The AfDB financing is expected to complement national investments in the energy sector and support Côte d’Ivoire’s goal of achieving wider and more inclusive electricity access in the coming years.

Authorities emphasize that improved electrification will contribute to better living conditions, stronger educational and health services, and increased local economic activity, particularly in underserved communities.

PROSER II aligns with national development priorities centered on infrastructure development, inclusive growth, and energy transition.
