Cooperation: the world bank aims to support côte d’ivoire in strengthening human capital and agricultural sector productivity

Abidjan, April 14, 2025 – Following a meeting with the Ivorian Prime Minister, Robert Beugré Mambé, on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Abidjan, the Managing Director of Operations of the World Bank, Wencai Zhang, reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to strengthening human capital and boosting productivity in the agricultural sector.

In addition to discussions on areas of cooperation regarding improvements in agricultural productivity and human capital development, both parties addressed issues related to infrastructure development, housing (a sector with strong potential for youth employment), as well as the involvement of the private sector in supporting the growth model.

Wencai Zhang also commended Côte d’Ivoire’s impressive achievements in macroeconomic stability, economic development, and the strengthening of human capital.

“We came to take stock of what has been accomplished and to support Côte d’Ivoire’s development trajectory,” he stated, while expressing the World Bank’s willingness to work closely with the government in the drafting of the next National Development Plan (PND).

 

For his part, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé praised the privileged relationship between Côte d’Ivoire and the Bretton Woods institutions. He affirmed that the World Bank supports the Ivorian economy and development initiatives. Côte d’Ivoire is making innovations in several sectors thanks to the invaluable support of the World Bank, he emphasized.
