Cocoa Sector: Government Revises Sales Campaign Calendar
The government has revised the marketing calendar for cocoa sales campaigns. From now on, the main cocoa campaign will open on September 1 and close on February 28. The mid-crop (small) campaign will begin on March 1 and end on August 31, according to information released by the Conseil du Café-Cacao on Friday, February 27, 2026.
This reorganization is expected to facilitate the resumption of bean purchases by multinational companies and local exporters, whose activities had been suspended or significantly reduced in recent months due to the crisis.
Bringing forward the intermediate campaign should help revive the entire production and industrial system by ensuring a faster flow of cocoa beans to the market.
Under the new arrangement, farmers are expected to sell their production within a few weeks, whereas many had been left without viable marketing options for several months.
The cocoa sector represents approximately 1.2 million producers and supports nearly eight million people in Côte d’Ivoire.
Côte d’Ivoire generates more than 130 billion dollars in annual revenue from the global cocoa industry. However, Côte d’Ivoire and other producing countries receive only about 6% of this amount.
