Mr. Baba Malick Ba Appointed Regional Director for BIDC’s West African Operations
Mr. Baba Malick Ba has been appointed Regional Director responsible for supervising Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, and Guinea at the Abidjan office of the West African Development Bank (BIDC), effective February 1, 2026.
A seasoned finance professional, Mr. Ba brings extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the Bank, he served in the Senegalese government at the Ministry of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation as Director of Financing and Public-Private Partnerships and Coordinator of Senegal’s PPP Unit (UNAPPP).
In addition, Mr. Ba held the role of Senior Advisor to the Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation of Senegal, providing guidance on financial and strategic matters. He played a key role in mobilizing capital to finance major infrastructure projects across multiple sectors including transportation, health, sanitation, energy, and education.
Mr. Ba has also held various strategic positions in Canadian public enterprises and gained international banking experience working with JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America in the United States and Canada.
His appointment underscores BIDC’s commitment to leveraging highly qualified leadership to advance its mission of promoting sustainable economic development in West Africa.
