As part of the multinational maritime security exercise OBANGAME EXPRESS 2026, the Port Authority of Abidjan welcomed the Spanish maritime action vessel FUROR on April 13, 2026, for an eight-day stopover.

A delegation led by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Côte d’Ivoire, H.E. Guillermo Marín GORBEA, paid a courtesy visit to the port, where they were received by Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, Port Commander, in the presence of Dr Titi PALÉ épouse KOUMAN, Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communication.

This visit is part of the strengthening of cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Spain in maritime safety and security. Discussions highlighted the importance of enhanced collaboration in addressing security challenges in the Gulf of Guinea, while also showcasing the progress made by the Port of Abidjan in terms of modernization and logistical performance. The Commander of the vessel “FUROR” praised the quality of the port’s infrastructure and the ongoing efforts to align the Abidjan platform with international standards.

Held annually, OBANGAME EXPRESS aims to combat piracy and illicit trafficking, while strengthening coordination of maritime operations among partner states.
