1st International Extractive and Energy Resources Fair in Côte d’Ivoire (SIREXE) 2024: A Platform to Showcase Mining, Oil, and Energy Potential
The International Extractive and Energy Resources Fair (SIREXE) serves as a unique opportunity to promote the full development of Côte d’Ivoire's mining, oil, and energy potential—key pillars for sustainable growth and development. This was highlighted by Ivorian Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Parc des Expositions in Abidjan Port-Bouët.
Speaking on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara, who officially inaugurated the event, Vice President Koné emphasized that SIREXE marks a significant milestone for Côte d’Ivoire, the subregion, and Africa as a whole. "Extractive resources undeniably represent a wealth for our countries," he stated, addressing an audience that included Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima Mustapha, the event's guest of honor.
Vice President Koné called on all stakeholders, particularly the youth, to seize the opportunities presented by the extractive sector and to contribute to the transformation of the African continent.
In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima Mustapha underscored that SIREXE is more than just an industry fair; it is a celebration of the fraternity between Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria. He assured the audience of Nigeria's readiness, as an experienced leader in the extractive industry, to collaborate with Côte d’Ivoire in fostering a sustainable extractive and energy sector across Africa.
Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, explained that SIREXE aims to unify existing initiatives in the sector and create a single platform that integrates the three key sub-sectors: mining, oil, and energy.
With its theme, "Sustainable Development of Extractive and Energy Industries: What Policies and Strategies?", SIREXE provides a space for dialogue, innovation, and partnership to unlock the sector's potential and drive inclusive economic growth.
