Côte d’Ivoire made a strong impression on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Paris during the opening of the 62nd edition of the International Agricultural Show, one of the largest agricultural events in the world. As the country of honor, Côte d’Ivoire used this international platform to highlight the ambitious transformation of its agricultural sector.
Beyond diplomatic symbolism, the message from Ivorian authorities is clear: agriculture lies at the heart of the country’s development strategy and is a major driver of growth, stability, and economic attractiveness.
The Ivorian agricultural sector remains a key pillar of the national economy. In 2025, agriculture accounted for approximately 17.9% of the GDP, representing around 17.7 billion USD out of a total estimated GDP of 99.2 billion USD. The sector structures rural employment and positions Côte d’Ivoire as a leading player in several strategic agricultural value chains worldwide.
The main focus is no longer only on production but on value creation. The country is accelerating the local processing of its agricultural raw materials to strengthen its industrial base, increase higher-value exports, and create more qualified jobs.
At the same time, modernization of the sector is underway. Mechanization, technological innovations, yield improvements, and value chain structuring reflect a clear commitment to increase competitiveness while meeting international standards.
Sustainability also occupies a central place. In the face of climate and environmental challenges, Côte d’Ivoire is moving toward more resilient agriculture, integrating responsible resource management and ecosystem preservation into its growth strategy.
Finally, the country clearly signals its openness to partnerships and investments. Agro-industry, logistics, agricultural technologies, processing, and value chains represent attractive opportunities for investors interested in a dynamic West African market.
Through its remarkable presence in Paris, Côte d’Ivoire has not only celebrated its status as the country of honor but also presented a clear vision of an agricultural sector undergoing profound transformation strategic for national development and attractive to international partners.
