Côte d’Ivoire has taken a major step in its climate strategy ahead of COP30, scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil. The Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, Assahoré Konan Jacques, officially submitted the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) 3.0, outlining an ambitious objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 33.07% by 2035.
This updated roadmap reinforces the country’s dedication to a greener and more resilient development model, integrating climate adaptation, mitigation efforts, and sustainable growth.
As head of the national delegation to COP30, Minister Léon Kacou Adom will lead Côte d’Ivoire’s participation in international negotiations. He is expected to advocate strongly for climate finance, technology transfer, and strengthened international cooperation, ensuring that developing countries like Côte d’Ivoire receive the support needed to accelerate their ecological transition.
This commitment, supported by the European Union and other development partners, marks a decisive step for Côte d’Ivoire toward an inclusive and sustainable green transition. It demonstrates the country’s determination to contribute actively to global climate efforts while enhancing resilience and promoting a low-carbon, environmentally responsible future.
