Côte d’Ivoire and the United States strengthen cooperation against crime with new field investigation tools

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Junaid Munir joined representatives of Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Water and Forests and the Office Ivoirien des Parcs et Réserves (OIPR) in Abidjan for the handover of crime scene management kits and the launch of a rapid reference guide.

According to the information released, these tools are designed to support efforts by Côte d’Ivoire to combat various forms of criminal activity and strengthen overall security operations, particularly in protected and sensitive areas.

Officials highlighted that the initiative aims to improve field investigation capacity and enhance responses to environmental crimes and other illicit activities.

Junaid Munir emphasized the importance of strong cooperation between the United States and Côte d’Ivoire, noting that it helps limit criminal networks and cross-border threats affecting both countries.

Ivorian authorities, for their part, welcomed the support, stressing that the new equipment will strengthen on-the-ground investigations and improve the protection of natural resources and protected zones.

The initiative reflects ongoing security cooperation between Abidjan and Washington in the fight against organized crime and illicit trafficking in West Africa.
