A high-level U.S. delegation led by Jacob Helberg, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, is in Abidjan to attend the solemn swearing-in ceremony of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan. The information was confirmed to Abidjan.net on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

“The Côte d’Ivoire’s steady economic progress and its leadership in West Africa make it a key partner for the United States. Our delegation is honored to represent President Trump and the American people, and we are committed to deepening a partnership that supports the prosperity of both our nations,” Mr. Helberg declared, emphasizing the importance of this visit.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, the presidential delegation appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump will visit several infrastructure projects that demonstrate the concrete benefits of the partnership between the United States and Côte d’Ivoire.

“With strong and consistent growth for over a decade, Côte d’Ivoire offers significant opportunities for American businesses,” the U.S. Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire said in a statement.

The delegation will also meet with representatives of American companies operating in the country.

For Ambassador Davis Ba, this presidential delegation sent to Abidjan reflects the strength of the U.S.–Ivorian partnership.

“American companies continue to choose Côte d’Ivoire for its stability, the quality of its workforce, and the dynamism of its economy. Our partnership creates real opportunities to strengthen reciprocal trade and investments that generate jobs in both countries. The United States is committed to working alongside Côte d’Ivoire to combat terrorism and illegal immigration, expand trade, boost innovation, and build a future of shared prosperity,” the U.S. diplomat in Abidjan said.

The delegation will also visit, together with Ivorian authorities, the Koumassi Interchange in southern Abidjan, whose construction was financially supported by the United States.

Re-elected President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire with a wide margin of 89.77% of the vote in the presidential election of October 25, 2025, Alassane Ouattara will take the oath of office before the Constitutional Council during a solemn ceremony scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau.
