On September 10, 2025, Ambassador Jeroen Kelderhuis and Deputy Head Matthijs van Eeuwen welcomed Sébastien Haller, Ivorian football star and hero of the last Africa Cup of Nations thanks to his decisive goal that secured victory for Côte d’Ivoire.

Currently playing for Dutch club FC Utrecht after his time at AFC Ajax, Haller discussed with the ambassador not only football but also important topics like education, health, and his involvement with UNICEF Côte d’Ivoire.

During the meeting, they also talked about the possibility of introducing the KNVB WorldCoaches program in Côte d’Ivoire, a Dutch initiative aimed at developing football worldwide. The Netherlands Caravan, a key cultural and sports cooperation event, was also part of their discussion.

The Embassy of the Netherlands wishes Sébastien Haller and the Elephants team great success for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco this December.
