Israel and Côte d’Ivoire Strengthen Their Ties

The Mayor of Netanya, Avi Slama, and the Deputy Mayor of Port-Bouët, Dr. Emmou Sylvestre, have officially signed a twinning agreement between their two cities.

Relations between Israel and Côte d’Ivoire continue to strengthen. The agreement between Netanya and Port-Bouët aims to deepen local cooperation between the two countries and promote the development of joint initiatives.

The partnership will support collaboration in areas such as innovation, technology, urban development, environmental protection, culture, education, tourism, and economic exchanges.

Relations between Israel and Côte d’Ivoire date back to the early 1960s, shortly after Côte d’Ivoire gained independence. During that period, Israel launched several cooperation programs in West Africa, particularly in agriculture, water management, healthcare, and training.

After years of more discreet engagement, bilateral relations have gained renewed momentum over the past decade. The two countries have increased political and economic exchanges, while Israeli companies have become involved in several development projects in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly in infrastructure, new technologies, and security.

The twinning agreement between Netanya and Port-Bouët reflects this growing partnership. Beyond its symbolic significance, it aims to establish a lasting framework for cooperation between the two cities and foster concrete exchanges that benefit their communities.
