Roey Gilad, the new Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, has arrived in Accra to officially begin his diplomatic mission. He succeeds Shlomit Sufa, who concluded her term in Ghana in July 2024.
With over 30 years of diplomatic experience, Ambassador Gilad brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He has previously represented Israel in key nations, including Kenya, Jordan, the UK, the USA, and Turkiye.
A press release from the Israeli Embassy, dated September 5, 2024, highlighted that prior to this appointment, Roey Gilad was involved in policy research at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also held the position of Director of Export Control within the Ministry, alongside other significant roles in Israel's foreign affairs sector.
Ambassador Gilad aims to build upon the strong bilateral relations between Israel and Ghana by strengthening ties at multiple levels – government-to-government, business-to-business, and people-to-people.
“I am excited to represent Israel in Ghana, a country known for its stable and robust relationship with Israel. My arrival comes at a time when Israel is facing unprecedented challenges. As part of my mission, I will work to inform Ghanaian leaders and citizens about these issues,” Ambassador Gilad stated.
His vast diplomatic background positions him to foster closer cooperation between Israel and the countries he will serve
