October 2025 Presidential Election: 150 WANEP Côte d’Ivoire Observers Deployed Nationwide

A total of 150 observers have been deployed across Côte d’Ivoire by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP Côte d’Ivoire) to monitor the October 2025 presidential election.

The announcement was made on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Abidjan-Cocody, by Imam Cissé Djiguiba, President of the Rapid Response Facilitation Cell, one of the key units within WANEP’s electoral early warning mechanism.

The deployment forms part of WANEP’s broader observation and monitoring framework designed to support a peaceful and transparent electoral process. According to Imam Cissé Djiguiba, the Cell will work in close coordination with state and non-state institutions to facilitate rapid responses to any risks of electoral violence throughout the country.

While the election is underway, WANEP Côte d’Ivoire commended the Ivorian government’s efforts over recent months to promote an inclusive and peaceful vote. The organization also welcomed the participation of national and international observer missions as a sign of growing democratic maturity.

WANEP praised the continuous awareness campaigns and peace appeals led by civil society and religious leaders but also expressed concern about the persistent risks of misinformation, manipulation, and foreign interference, as well as potential incidents of violence in certain localities.

The network urged the government to reinforce security measures during the voting and counting process and to ensure the safety of citizens and property nationwide.

According to Ovi Kouamé Jean-Marc, WANEP’s national coordinator, this marks the organization’s third observation mission in Côte d’Ivoire. Over three days from October 24 to 26 observation teams will collect, verify, and analyze field data through WANEP’s monitoring units to support timely and evidence-based responses.
