Independent presidential candidate Ahoua Don Mello has acknowledged the provisional results announced on Monday, October 27, 2025, by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), while urging the future President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, to adopt measures aimed at fostering peace and national reconciliation, according to a statement sent to the Ivorian News Agency (AIP).
The former Director General of the National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (BNETD) noted that the election took place in an atmosphere marked by fear of violence and political distrust, which, in his view, discouraged part of the electorate from going to the polls.
He expressed regret that his political platform, titled “A Sovereign Côte d’Ivoire,” though welcomed by many citizens, did not translate into widespread voter support.
Ahoua Don Mello also pointed out, based on observations from electoral monitors, several irregularities that affected the integrity of the vote in certain areas, including cases of voter obstruction, ballot box stuffing, and destruction of voting materials.
Describing these electoral tensions as a reflection of the “wounds of the one-party state,” he urged the authorities to move beyond political divisions by promoting inclusive dialogue and addressing the injustices suffered by victims of election-related violence.
The independent candidate proposed, among other measures, the release of political prisoners, the safe return of exiles, and the compensation of victims of clashes. He also called for a national consensus on political and economic reforms to “build a truly democratic and sovereign State.”
Ahoua Don Mello expressed gratitude to his allies, campaign team, and all Ivorians at home and abroad who placed their trust in him. He concluded by extending his sympathy to the victims of violence before and during the election, advocating for “fair reparation” for the damages they endured.
