Presidential Election 2025: RHDP Diaspora Rallies in Paris in Support of Alassane Ouattara's Candidacy

The Place de la Bataille de Stalingrad, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, was awash with orange on Saturday, June 14, 2025, as supporters of the Rassemblement des Houphouëtistes pour la Démocratie et la Paix (RHDP) gathered to call for President Alassane Ouattara to run in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for October 25.

Hundreds of Ivorian activists and sympathizers from across France and Europe responded to the call of the ruling party in a vibrant show of support for President Ouattara. According to media reports, the crowd brandished Ivorian tricolor flags, RHDP scarves, and placards bearing the image of the Head of State, turning the event into a true "orange wave."

Described as a "great family celebration," the rally was punctuated by songs, chants, and testimonials from participants expressing their desire to see President Ouattara continue his mission. Several RHDP local leaders addressed the crowd, praising the turnout and calling it a "strong message sent from abroad."

With just four months to go before the presidential election, this display of unity reinforces the growing mobilization already underway within Côte d'Ivoire. It also highlights the increasing influence of the Ivorian diaspora in national political discourse.

The RHDP intends to build on this momentum to expand its support base and strengthen its international presence ahead of the October 25 vote.

The rally took place in the presence of Ivorian officials, including Ministers Mamadou Touré and Myss Belmonde Dogo, and was organized under the leadership of Ouattara Dramane “O.D”, the RHDP’s National Secretary in charge of diaspora affairs, along with his team.

The party's 2nd Ordinary Congress, scheduled for June 21–22 in Abidjan, is expected to officially nominate its presidential candidate. In the lead-up to this key event, regional pre-congress meetings have been held across Côte d'Ivoire, all overwhelmingly supporting the candidacy of the incumbent president.
