Charles Blé Goudé's party, the Congrès Panafricain pour la Justice et l’Égalité des Peuples (COJEP), has officially acknowledged Laurent Gbagbo's recent political appeal made during a gathering in Bonoua.
In a statement received by Linfodrome, COJEP noted that it has "taken note" of Gbagbo's call and assured that an "appropriate political response will be formulated in due course." This announcement follows a meeting between Blé Goudé and a delegation from the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI), led by Pr Dano Djédjé Sébastien, the party's Executive President.
The meeting's objective was to inform COJEP of Gbagbo's appeal, made on July 14, 2024, which seeks to unite political forces with the goal of "defeating the current government in the 2025 presidential election."
Blé Goudé, a former Minister of Youth under Gbagbo and a key figure in Ivorian politics, appears to be strategically positioning COJEP in response to this call. This move suggests that the party will play a significant role in the upcoming electoral landscape.
The COJEP's brief statement indicates a pivotal moment in the political dynamics between the two leaders, potentially signaling an alliance or strategic positioning for the 2025 elections. Further details on COJEP's response are eagerly awaited and may have significant repercussions for Ivorian politics.
Additionally, 28 opposition leaders and parties have been approached by Gbagbo's party as part of a consultation effort launched after his appeal. Notably, Guillaume Soro's Générations et Peuples Solidaires has expressed support for this initiative, which aims to end the Ouattara administration following the 2025 presidential election.
