Former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo has pledged to compensate all victims of the Ivorian crisis, regardless of their political or religious affiliations, if he is elected to the presidency in 2025.
This commitment was relayed by his wife, Nady Bamba, during a meeting with women from the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI) in Attécoubé, a district in western Abidjan, on Sunday, December 8, 2024. "In a letter sent to the women, which I read in Abobo, President Laurent Gbagbo expressed his deep compassion for the mutilated women of Anonkoua Kouté and, through them, for all the victims in Côte d'Ivoire. He promises that once in power, he will compensate all victims without exception, regardless of their political or religious affiliations," Nady Bamba stated in her speech.
She also added that Laurent Gbagbo intends to give the Ivorian people a voice, allowing them to express their suffering and promote mutual forgiveness: "In his letter, he promises to create a space where everyone can share their pain without fear and propose solutions for genuine reconciliation."
Nady Bamba reiterated that Laurent Gbagbo is the sole candidate of the PPA-CI for the 2025 presidential election. She urged party members to promote the ten commitments made by Gbagbo during his nomination as the candidate, emphasizing: "He is our candidate, and there will be no other."
On a tour of recognition and gratitude, Mrs. Bamba has been meeting with PPA-CI supporters in various communes, including Yopougon, Songon, Anyama, and Abobo, to strengthen their mobilization ahead of the upcoming election.
