The Elephants basketball team is now the top team in Africa, according to the latest FIBA Africa rankings.
Currently on the throne, the Elephants hold the top position in African basketball, as confirmed by the FIBA Africa ranking. The top 10 in this sport on the continent is led by Côte d'Ivoire.
This achievement by the Elephants is a result of their recent performance. During the first window of the Afrobasket 2025 qualifiers, they went undefeated in Group D.
The Elephants defeated Madagascar (77-69), the Central African Republic (93-67), and Egypt (79-76). These impressive results allowed Souleyman Diabaté and his teammates to move from 5th place to the top position in the ranking.
In the FIBA Africa Top 10 Ranking, Côte d'Ivoire is followed by South Sudan and Angola. Tunisia, Nigeria, Egypt, and Cape Verde are next, with Senegal, Cameroon, and the DR Congo rounding out the Top 10 in African basketball.
