On Friday, March 21, 2025, the management team of Lafigué Gold Mine, a subsidiary of the Endeavour Mining Group operating in Côte d’Ivoire, organized an Open Day event that brought together executives, elected officials, administrative authorities, and social partners.
The highlights of the day included a guided tour of the mining facilities, a detailed presentation of the exploration process, and an overview of the technological innovations implemented to ensure strict compliance with the mine’s environmental commitments.
According to Mrs. Laetitia Gadegbeku Ouattara, Vice President of Public Affairs for Endeavour Mining in Côte d’Ivoire, "This Open Day reflects the company’s commitment to transparency and dialogue as fundamental pillars for building strong relationships with stakeholders."
She expressed pride in welcoming local partners to the Lafigué mine site, believing the visit would help share Endeavour Mining’s vision on addressing challenges and upholding commitments toward responsible and sustainable mining practices.
The event also provided an opportunity for Mr. Adam Kouyaté, Director of Social Performance, to highlight Endeavour Mining’s commitment to making a lasting social impact in Lafigué.
Mr. Kouyaté outlined several programs launched to support the local communities of the Hambol region. Among them is the “Employability and Entrepreneurship” program, implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and Literacy, as well as the Ministry of Technical Education, Vocational Training, and Apprenticeship. This program has enabled more than 1,500 people from communities directly impacted by mining operations to become literate.
Additionally, over 150 young people from Dabakala and Katiola have received technical training, with some securing their first jobs at the Lafigué mine.
Another key initiative is “N’goto Yetehe,” aimed at facilitating the professional integration of youth who participated in the construction of the Lafigué gold mine. Beneficiaries of this program have gained access to vocational training, internships, support for local entrepreneurship, and a dedicated community fund.
Furthermore, the Livelihood Restoration Plan has made it possible to develop over 40 hectares of rice paddies, supporting the production of rice, food crops, honey, and cashew nuts.
According to Mrs. Ouattara, these initiatives reflect Endeavour Mining’s commitment to community development and the empowerment of local populations.
Inaugurated on October 19, 2024, the Lafigué Gold Mine has an annual production capacity of 5.6 tonnes of gold and is expected to create over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs. A total investment of 274 billion CFA francs was made for the construction of the mine.
