New Taxes at the Port: The Director General Meets with Vehicle Importers

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA), Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE, received, at their request, a significant delegation from the Union of the New Generation of Freight Forwarders and Used Vehicle Importers of Côte d'Ivoire (SNGTIVO), led by Mr. N'GUESSAN Kouassi Narcisse, the General Secretary.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the recent tariff revision announced by the Port Authority of Abidjan in a notice to users published on September 5, 2024. The discussions specifically focused on the new rates applied to the category of vehicles (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and trucks).

At the end of the cordial and productive discussions, the following points were noted:

  1. The used vehicle importers stated that they are not opposed to the tariff revision but would like special consideration for their sector. They also requested time to submit proposals.

  2. Another meeting is scheduled for next week to continue the discussions.

  3. The Director General of the Port will issue a notice to suspend the application of the "vehicle" section of note No. 278 DEESP/DAEESP/DSP/SCP/KKA, until a later date.
