Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama officially inaugurated a new steel plant owned by B5 Plus Limited on February 20, 2026, in the Ningo‑Prampram municipality of the Greater Accra Region. The inauguration marks a significant milestone for the country’s industrial development and demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to strengthening local steel production.
During the ceremony, President Mahama stated, “This plant demonstrates what can be achieved when public policies, private investment, and innovation come together for national development.” He emphasized that the new facility will help reduce dependence on imports, create jobs, and support the construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors.
The B5 Plus plant represents a key step in expanding steel production capacity in West Africa. It is part of the Ghanaian government’s efforts to build a more autonomous and competitive manufacturing economy in the region by promoting public‑private partnerships and technological innovation.
B5 Plus officials noted that the facility will produce high-quality steel for local and regional markets while supporting Ghana’s vision of becoming an industrial hub in West Africa. The inauguration also highlights the growing role of private investment in driving the country’s economic transformation.
