The President of Côte d’Ivoire’s Court of Cassation, Joachim Yua Koffi, welcomed on March 25, 2026, at the headquarters of the country’s highest judicial authority, a high-level delegation from the UEMOA Court of Justice, led by its President, Kuami Gameli Lodonou.
The visit reinforced the essential dialogue for a better understanding of judicial missions within the UEMOA region. The meeting also highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to promote credible justice for citizens across the UEMOA area.
“This contributes to strengthening the coherence of the legal order within the Union,” assured President Joachim Yua Koffi.
Côte d’Ivoire’s Court of Cassation places great importance on its relationship with the UEMOA Court of Justice, a key institution in the community’s legal architecture, responsible for ensuring the uniform interpretation and application of Union law.
“National supreme courts play a decisive role as interpreters of community law within domestic legal systems,” affirmed Joachim Yua Koffi.
The Court of Cassation remains fully committed to supporting initiatives that promote dialogue among judges, exchange of experiences, and dissemination of community law within national judicial systems.
“I congratulate the new judges of the Court of Justice and hope that our exchanges will deepen cooperation and coordination between community law and national laws,” he concluded.
For his part, Kuami Gameli Lodonou stated that discussions focused on issues of mutual interest between the two institutions. He also indicated the possibility of establishing a partnership to facilitate the explanation and dissemination of community law.
