Côte d’Ivoire–USA Cooperation: Tribute and Honor for Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba at the End of Her Mission
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians Abroad, H.E. Léon Kacou Adom, hosted a farewell luncheon in Abidjan in honor of the U.S. Ambassador, H.E. Jessica Davis Ba.
The ceremony, marking the conclusion of her three-year diplomatic mission, celebrated a bilateral partnership deemed exceptional. The banquet hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs served as the venue for a solemn reception filled with fraternity and respect.
In the presence of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and several government members, Ivorian diplomacy paid a warm tribute to the U.S. envoy.
In his speech, Minister Léon Kacou Adom, on behalf of President H.E. Alassane Ouattara, expressed deep gratitude for the “remarkable work” accomplished by Ambassador Davis Ba since her arrival on March 2, 2023. He noted that her tenure in Abidjan helped revitalize a historic partnership begun in 1961, now characterized by frank dialogue and dynamic cooperation.
The Minister particularly highlighted the impact of American investments in key infrastructure, strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s economic competitiveness and regional influence. “Côte d’Ivoire looks forward to a qualitative renewal of this strategic partnership,” he added, calling for new avenues to facilitate human exchanges and knowledge sharing.
Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba was named Commander of the National Order of Côte d’Ivoire, a prestigious distinction recognizing her personal commitment to strengthening ties between Washington and Abidjan.
After signing the official acts, the American diplomat addressed the audience to express her deep gratitude, praising the extraordinary progress achieved during her mandate and emphasizing that relations between the two peoples are now deeper and broader than ever before.
