€25 Million EU-Funded Innovative Projects in Côte d’Ivoire under INTERREG MAC
On June 4, 2026, ten innovative projects worth €25 million (16.4 billion CFA francs) were presented in Abidjan at the Azalaï Hotel under the INTERREG MAC 2021–2027 programme, in the presence of the European Union and its partners, including Martina Borovac Pecarevic, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Côte d’Ivoire.
These projects, supported by the EU, the Government of the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal, and Ivorian stakeholders, focus on SME competitiveness and digital innovation, sustainable agriculture and food security, climate change adaptation and biodiversity protection, vocational training and skills development, circular economy in the textile sector, socio-economic inclusion of migrants, and scientific research in marine biotechnology, aquaculture, and fisheries sciences.
With a total budget of €210 million (138 billion CFA francs), the INTERREG MAC programme is part of the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity between Europe and Africa, accelerate green and digital transitions, and promote public-private partnerships for sustainable development.
The programme also strengthens cooperation between the EU outermost regions—Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Azores—and seven West African countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, reinforcing long-term regional integration and collaboration.
