Côte d’Ivoire – UN Launch 2026–2030 Cooperation Framework, 565 Billion FCFA Mobilized

The Government of Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations system officially launched on Tuesday, April 28 in Abidjan the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026–2030. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Planning and Development, Souleymane Diarrassouba, and the UN Resident Coordinator, Hélène N’garnim-Ganga, in the presence of government officials, development partners, as well as representatives from the private sector and civil society.

More than 1 billion US dollars, equivalent to approximately 565 billion FCFA, will be mobilized to implement this five-year framework. Nearly 40% of this amount is already secured or identified. The initiative reflects a shared ambition to support the transformation of the Ivorian economy, strengthen human capital, reduce inequalities, and enhance the resilience of communities and territories, in a context marked by major economic, demographic, and climate challenges.

The United Nations support is structured around three strategic priorities aligned with the pillars of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030. The first focuses on economic transformation, with an emphasis on diversification, industrialization, and youth employment. The second aims at equitable access to essential services and social cohesion, including inequality reduction, social protection, and peacebuilding. The third priority targets environmental resilience and sustainable governance, supporting the transition to a green economy and adaptation to climate change.

The UNSDCF 2026–2030 builds on the achievements of the previous 2021–2025 cooperation cycle, which contributed to improved access to education and healthcare, strengthened youth employability and women’s economic empowerment, and enhanced social cohesion and climate resilience, particularly in vulnerable areas.

“The 2026–2030 Cooperation Framework is a decisive framework, as it will support Côte d’Ivoire up to the 2030 Agenda deadline and represents our last collective opportunity to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. By building on strong partnerships and close alignment with national priorities, it aims to deliver transformational and sustainable results for populations, especially the most vulnerable,” said Hélène N’garnim-Ganga.

“Aligned with the NDP 2026–2030, this new Framework establishes a shared commitment: to sustainably consolidate the transformation of the Ivorian economy and society, with method and rigor. The government and the United Nations will ensure rigorous implementation, supported by strict evaluation mechanisms, with a strong imperative of transparency toward populations and accountability to partners,” stated Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba.

This new cycle marks a major milestone in the partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations, supporting the ambition of a more prosperous economy and a more equitable and resilient society by 2030.
