Côte d’Ivoire Grants Four New Gold Exploration Permits
In Côte d’Ivoire, the Australian junior mining company Enegex Limited has been awarded four new gold exploration permits by the government, according to a statement released on Monday, January 19. With these permits secured, the company plans to launch its first exploration activities in the designated areas in the coming months.
Previously focused on gold assets in Australia, Enegex announced in September 2025 that it had reached an agreement to acquire a 3,700 km² gold exploration portfolio in Côte d’Ivoire. This portfolio includes several projects at an early exploration stage, notably Gogo, Tougbe, Dimbokro, and Toumodi, to which the newly granted permits—particularly Gogo West and Tougbe East—are linked.
“We are pleased to confirm the receipt of the decree documents relating to four additional exploration permits. We expect to commence work on these areas over the coming months,” said Paul Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of Enegex Limited.
Through this initiative, Côte d’Ivoire continues to implement its strategy of stimulating investment in gold exploration through the allocation of new permits. Beyond Enegex, the authorities granted around ten exploration permits in early December 2025 to nine mining companies, including the Canadian group Barrick Mining.
These developments reflect the growing interest of mining companies in Côte d’Ivoire’s gold potential, amid a bullish gold market in which prices rose by more than 70% in 2025. However, it should be noted that discoveries resulting from these permits remain uncertain and may require several years of exploration work. In this context, Enegex has already launched an initial drilling program on the Tougbe prospect.
