Côte d’Ivoire Unveils Five-Pillar Strategy to Transform Agriculture and Agro-Industry

Côte d’Ivoire is seeking to accelerate the transformation of its agricultural sector through a strategy focused on food security, competitiveness and value-added processing, Agriculture Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné said at the 14th edition of the Africa Abidjan Meetings.

Speaking before investors and business leaders at the Maison de l’Entreprise in Abidjan, Koné outlined five key priorities that will guide government action in the coming years: food sovereignty, competitiveness of agricultural value chains, agricultural financing, rural land security and the sustainability of production systems.

The minister said these pillars are designed to strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector while supporting the country’s broader economic development ambitions.

Koné also called on domestic and international investors to support the local processing of agricultural commodities, a strategic objective aimed at increasing value creation within Côte d’Ivoire and reducing dependence on raw commodity exports.

The announcement comes as the government prepares to launch the third National Agricultural Investment Programme (PNIA 3), a roadmap expected to guide investments and reforms in the sector over the coming years.

The official launch of the program is scheduled to take place at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.

Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Côte d’Ivoire’s economy, and authorities are increasingly focusing on agro-industrial development as a driver of job creation, food security and sustainable economic growth.
