Fuel prices have risen again in Côte d’Ivoire for the month of May 2026, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, in a move that will affect household spending and transport costs across the country.

The price of unleaded gasoline has increased from 820 CFA francs to 875 CFA francs per litre, marking a rise of 55 CFA francs. Diesel has also been adjusted upward, moving from 675 CFA francs to 700 CFA francs per litre, an increase of 25 CFA francs.

Authorities have not provided detailed justification for the price adjustments, which are part of the country’s monthly fuel price review mechanism.

Fuel prices in Côte d’Ivoire are periodically revised in response to global oil market fluctuations and domestic pricing policies.

The latest increase is expected to add pressure on transportation costs and could have a ripple effect on consumer prices in the coming weeks, particularly in urban areas where dependence on fuel is high.

Analysts note that fuel price adjustments remain a sensitive issue in West African economies, where governments often balance subsidy policies with fiscal stability and global market volatility.
