Côte d’Ivoire–Turkey: $120 Million Announced to Modernize the Health Sector
On the sidelines of the 5th Turkey–Africa Economic and Business Forum, Côte d’Ivoire secured a $120 million investment commitment from Sila Health, a Turkish company specializing in medical technologies.
According to Fraternité Matin(the state-owned media), which reported the news on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the investment will fund the construction of a state-of-the-art analysis laboratory and an ultra-modern medical imaging center in Abidjan. The goal is to strengthen the provision of quality healthcare, reduce costly medical evacuations, and position Côte d’Ivoire as a regional hub for advanced healthcare.
This announcement reflects strengthened cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Turkey, marked by increasing economic, diplomatic, and technical exchanges. In recent months, several initiatives have highlighted this dynamic, including the Ivorian Minister of Transport’s visit to Istanbul in August 2025, followed by a Turkish economic mission to Abidjan focused on infrastructure in September.
For several years, Turkey has pursued a strategy of influence in Africa, aiming to consolidate promising economic opportunities and establish sustainable and inclusive cooperation, with a particular focus on transport, construction, trade, and defense. According to the Centre for the Promotion of Investments in Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI), Turkish companies accounted for 7% of foreign direct investment in the country in 2023.
Trade between Ankara and Yamoussoukro has also seen significant growth, rising from $733 million in 2020 to $813 million in 2024, according to the International Trade Centre (ITC).
