Côte d’Ivoire: Yaouré Boosts Perseus’ West African Gold Output in 2025
The Yaouré gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire delivered 194,486 ounces of gold during the first three quarters of 2025, marking a 12% year-on-year increase. This strong performance contrasts with the decline recorded at Perseus Mining’s other two West African operations, according to the company’s third-quarter activity report released on Monday, October 27.
At Perseus’ second Ivorian asset, the Sissingué gold mine, production fell by 33% year-on-year, reaching 34,920 ounces over the same period. A similar trend was observed at the Edikan mine in Ghana, where output dropped to 113,389 ounces, down from 144,199 ounces during the first nine months of 2024.
These results, however, remain in line with the company’s mining plan. At Sissingué, the decline reflects more extensive stripping activities to access richer ore zones, while at Edikan, the reduction is linked to the completion of two open pits and greater reliance on low-grade stockpiles.
For its 2026 financial year, which began on July 1, Perseus is targeting total gold production between 400,000 and 440,000 ounces, nearly half of which is expected to come from Yaouré. The mine is projected to produce 168,000 to 184,000 ounces, compared to 262,239 ounces in FY2025.
Yaouré is currently transitioning from open pit to underground mining, which will make it Côte d’Ivoire’s first underground gold mine. Commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2026, with production expected to continue until 2035.
