Corruption Perceptions Index 2025: Côte d’Ivoire Declines Despite Previous Progress

According to the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International, the perception of public sector corruption in Côte d’Ivoire has worsened compared to the previous year.

In the 2025 report, Côte d’Ivoire scored 43 out of 100, ranking 76th out of 182 countries evaluated. Interestingly, Côte d’Ivoire shares the same score and global ranking with Ghana, Kosovo, and China, highlighting that these countries are perceived similarly in terms of public sector corruption.

 Regression Compared to 2024

·       2024 CPI: Score of 45/100, ranked 69th globally.

·       2025 CPI: Score of 43/100, ranked 76th globally.

This means Côte d’Ivoire lost 2 points in score and fell 7 places in the global ranking within one year.

Although the country had shown notable gains in the previous report, improving from 40/100 (ranked 87th in 2023) to 45/100 (69th in 2024) an increase of 5 points and 18 places — the 2025 results suggest a reversal of that upward trend.

The drop in score reflects a perceived increase in corruption or stagnation of anti‑corruption reforms according to analysts. Globally, many countries face similar struggles, and the shared ranking with Ghana, Kosovo, and China illustrates that Côte d’Ivoire is now perceived on the same level as these nations.
