EU–Côte d’Ivoire Food Programs Deliver Strong Results in Agriculture Sector
The National Coordinator of the Coordination Unit for Côte d’Ivoire–European Union Cooperation (CCC CI-UE), Semon Bamba, expressed satisfaction on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Abidjan-Cocody, with the results achieved under the Sustainable Food System Support Programme (PASAD) and the Food Sector Support Programme in Côte d’Ivoire (PASV-CI).
The results were presented during the third joint meeting of the PASAD Steering, Coordination and Monitoring Committee and the PASV-CI Steering Committee, organized by CCC CI-UE with support from the European Union and technical partners.
Among the key achievements, Semon Bamba highlighted a 300% to 600% increase in attiéké production capacity.
He noted that the first two years of PASAD implementation enabled the identification of beneficiaries and the establishment of experimental plots for agroecological practices on small-scale areas.
There was also an increase in food crop production through the distribution of seeds and technical support, allowing over 300 hectares to be cultivated for cassava, vegetables, and plantains. Improvements were also recorded in cassava value chain governance with the creation of an Interprofessional Organization for the cassava sector.
The national coordinator also praised improvements in the marketing environment for food products, including support for the operation of seven local markets built by the Office for the Marketing of Food Crops (OCPV), as well as enhanced digitalization of trade through version 2.0 of the “E-grenier” platform, developed by OCPV with support from the SAFAF project (Food Security from Farm to Fork).
It should be noted that since June 2022, Côte d’Ivoire has benefited from €10 million in EU funding aimed at strengthening the resilience and sustainability of its national food system.
This funding continues the PASV-CI framework, reflecting a shared commitment to consolidating achievements and scaling up actions in the food value chain sector. The implementation of PASV-CI ended in November 2025 with strong results achieved.
