Gozem Sets Its Sights on Abidjan
Gozem is taking a strategic turn. The Francophone leader in mobility and on-demand delivery plans to launch its operations in Côte d’Ivoire by the end of 2026, according to reports published Wednesday by Jeune Afrique.
This announcement clearly marks the end of an era for the start-up, which has long followed a cautious and targeted expansion strategy.
The upcoming launch in Côte d’Ivoire will be Gozem’s sixth market since it began operations in November 2018. More importantly, it signals the company’s departure from a strategy focused on countries considered “secondary” by major international ride-hailing and on-demand service players.
Until now, the young company, founded by Raphaël Dana and Gregory Costamagna, had focused on markets such as Togo, Benin, Gabon, and Congo-Brazzaville. These countries offered a key advantage at the time of entry: limited structured competition in the urban transport and delivery sectors.
The announced entry into Côte d’Ivoire, particularly Abidjan, changes the game. The Ivorian market is one of the most dynamic and competitive in West Africa, with strong demand for mobility and on-demand delivery solutions, as well as the presence of well-established players.
By positioning itself in this market, Gozem is signaling stronger ambitions and a clear intention to compete at the top level.
