Strong Growth Confirms the Strength of Côte d’Ivoire’s Agriculture
The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Crop Production, Bruno Nabagné Koné, chaired the 2025 Agricultural Sector Review Workshop in Yamoussoukro on June 5, in the presence of the Minister Delegate, Bernard Kini Komoé.
Commending the central role of producers and the satisfactory performance of the past year, Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné highlighted the achievements of the National Agricultural Investment Program II (PNIA II) in terms of modernization, resilience, and the improvement of rural living conditions.
In terms of results, total export crop production in 2025 reached 11,251,611 tonnes, representing a net increase of 916,526 tonnes compared to 2024. This upward trend was also observed in food crop production, which totaled 25,800,294 tonnes in 2025, compared to 23,654,674 tonnes in 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 9%.
He called on all stakeholders to actively engage in the transition toward higher value-added agriculture, driven by innovation, competitiveness, and digitalization, in line with the objectives of PNIA III under the National Development Plan 2026–2030.
For his part, the Director General of Planning, Statistics and Projects, Kokora Dibi, welcomed the sector’s positive performance: “The agricultural sector accounts for 17% of GDP, 40% of exports, and 40% of national employment, with total production estimated at more than 37 million tonnes. Côte d’Ivoire also maintains its global leadership in cocoa, cashew nuts, and rubber production, with local processing rates increasing to 41% for cocoa and 43% for cashew nuts.”
These figures confirm the dynamism and strength of Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural sector.
