Côte d'Ivoire and the United Arab Emirates Sign a Financing Agreement Worth 31 billion CFA and Several Memorandums of Understanding

A delegation from Côte d'Ivoire, led by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 22 to 29, 2024, for a working visit. During this trip, several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed with Emirati investors, who expressed a clear interest in establishing a privileged partnership with Côte d'Ivoire.

Key agreements include :

  • MOUs for the construction of 25,000 homes for low-income families and 7,000 socio-economic homes.
  • A loan agreement for $50 million USD (31 billion CFA) from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to finance social housing programs in Côte d'Ivoire, offering rental-purchase, simple rental, and direct sale options.

These points were presented during the Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.

The Ivorian delegation and the Emiratis also signed:

  • A memorandum of understanding for the creation of a major Joint Cooperation Commission between Côte d'Ivoire and the UAE.
  • An MOU to establish a partnership for the exchange of governmental experiences between the two countries to strengthen the Ivorian administration's capacity.
  • An MOU for the development and management of industrial and economic activity zones in Côte d'Ivoire.

According to government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, this important mission not only reinforced and consolidated the existing cooperation between the two countries but also helped mobilize more Emirati investors by showcasing the investment opportunities available in Côte d'Ivoire.

During this working visit, the Prime Minister also met with high-ranking Emirati authorities and top business leaders from the UAE.
