It has already been a year since Ivory Coast crowned itself the leader of African football. A year later, the country continues to celebrate its football heroes, the Elephants, true modern-day champions. To mark this occasion, the Ministry of Sports and the Environment, through the National Sports Office (ONS), organized a commemoration ceremony on February 11, 2025, at the esplanade of Tower A in the Administrative City. The event included an exhibition showcasing the most beautiful photos of the Elephants during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In addition to the photo exhibition highlighting the heroic journey of the Elephants to their final victory, attendees were treated to a lyrical performance by artist and songwriter BOMOU Mamadou, who praised the achievements of the national football team and all those who played a key role in this victory. At the forefront of the celebration were President Alassane OUATTARA, Prime Minister and Head of Government, the Minister of Sports and the Environment, as well as the Deputy Minister in charge of Sports and the Environment, Adjé Silas METCH.
During the ceremony, attended by fellow government officials such as the Minister of Women, Family, and Children, Nasseneba TOURE, and the Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Insertion, and Civil Service, TOURE Mamadou, Deputy Minister Adjé Silas METCH emphasized that this victory was for the entire nation.
“A special mention to the valiant people of Ivory Coast who created this orange wave in every stadium and alley across the country,” he said.
