Economic and Social Development: Côte d'Ivoire Explores the Potential of WAQF

On Monday, November 11, in Abidjan-Plateau, the Minister of Economy, Planning, and Development, Nialé Kaba, led a workshop dedicated to exploring WAQF’s development potential in Côte d'Ivoire.

In her opening remarks, Minister Nialé Kaba highlighted the socio-economic challenges Côte d'Ivoire is currently facing and emphasized WAQF's potential role in addressing these issues. "This workshop comes at a particularly strategic moment for Côte d'Ivoire as we continue implementing our 2020-2025 five-year plan, titled 'A United Côte d'Ivoire,' an ambitious vision led by His Excellency, the President of the Republic. Integrating WAQF into this strategy will certainly help promote the solidarity and fairness that are core values of our nation," said Nialé Kaba.

The minister sees this workshop as an essential step toward “developing an Ivorian WAQF model that respects our religious and cultural diversity and can foster inclusive social and economic growth.”

The director of the regional hub in Dakar reiterated the Islamic Development Bank's commitment to supporting Côte d'Ivoire in implementing WAQF as a development tool. "This initiative reflects our determination to harness WAQF’s potential to combat poverty, improve living conditions for Ivorians, and support various charitable efforts. WAQF is one of our organization’s most powerful tools for supporting member states in their sustainable development initiatives," explained Nabil Ghalled.
