Cocoa Commercialization: The Coffee-Cocoa Council Sets Measures for the Smooth Running of the 2024-2025 Season

To ensure the smooth running of the main 2024-2025 cocoa commercialization season, the Coffee-Cocoa Council (CCC), after government approval, has put in place specific measures, according to a statement signed by the Council's General Directorate on October 15, 2024, in Abidjan.

These measures include setting October 1, 2024, as the opening date of the 2024-2025 main cocoa season, and the guaranteed price for producers across the country, which is fixed at 1,800 FCFA per kilogram farm gate for properly fermented, dried, and sorted cocoa.

Additionally, the Coffee-Cocoa Council emphasized that no deduction is allowed on the guaranteed purchase price of 1,800 FCFA/kg, regardless of the level of grain quality. The collection differential is set at 100 FCFA/kg, and the only price accepted at the entry of conditioning factories (excluding transport) is the official rate of 1,900 FCFA/kg.

Furthermore, transportation costs from collection centers to the port are determined by the official TKM table (Ton-Kilometer) published by the Coffee-Cocoa Council, along with strengthened operational control measures to ensure compliance with the guaranteed price for producers.

The Council has also urged producers to continue delivering high-quality cocoa to restore the prestige of Ivory Coast-origin cocoa.

As for product buyers and exporters, they are called upon to be more vigilant and rigorous in ensuring the quality of the cocoa they purchase and, most importantly, to strictly adhere to the minimum guaranteed price.

In the same statement, the Coffee-Cocoa Council recalled that as of September 30, 2024, the contract execution rate for the 2023-2024 cocoa season, which just ended, stood at 91.97%, compared to 95.86% for the 2022-2023 season.
