China Energy Group Seeks to Strengthen Partnership with Côte d'Ivoire
On October 25, 2024, Côte d'Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Dr. Beugré Mambé, who also serves as Minister of Sports and the Environment, met in Abidjan with a delegation from China Energy Group, led by its President, Song Hailiang. The delegation expressed the company’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the Ivorian government.
During the meeting, Song Hailiang highlighted the company’s expertise and its interest in key sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, transport, and sanitation. He also mentioned significant projects currently underway in Côte d'Ivoire, including the Abidjan Bypass (Y4), the Bonoua biomass plant, and the Songon thermal power plant. Notably, China Energy Group currently employs over 1,100 people in Côte d'Ivoire.
"Our goal is to expand our investments in Côte d'Ivoire and enhance our energy production capacity to support neighboring countries in the region," Song emphasized.
Prime Minister Beugré Mambé welcomed the partnership, noting that Côte d'Ivoire remains open to investors and highlighting the country’s thriving market. He provided guidance on potential collaboration frameworks between the government and China Energy Group.
"The areas you have mentioned—energy, infrastructure, and urban development—are priorities for Côte d'Ivoire. We look forward to discussing ways to collaborate further,” stated Beugré Mambé, also encouraging China Energy to consider investment in processing Ivorian medicinal plants.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the progress of ongoing projects and emphasized the government’s readiness to foster cooperation in areas critical to Côte d'Ivoire’s growth.
