Blerta Cela, the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Côte d'Ivoire, officially presented her credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, on Thursday, September 12, in Abidjan-Plateau. This significant event marked the formal beginning of her mission in Côte d'Ivoire.
During the meeting, Cela reaffirmed UNDP's unwavering commitment to supporting Côte d'Ivoire in its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implement the country’s National Development Plan (PND) for 2021-2025. She praised the notable progress Côte d'Ivoire has made in various sectors, including economic growth, governance, and social cohesion.
Blerta Cela highlighted key priority areas for the collaboration between the UNDP and Côte d'Ivoire. These include economic and social development, combating climate change, enhancing governance and resilience, and fostering peace and security. She also underscored the importance of resource mobilization and partnerships to facilitate the preparation of the next National Development Plan for 2026-2030.
Minister Kacou Houadja Léon Adom commended the long-standing and productive partnership between Côte d'Ivoire and the UNDP. He emphasized the crucial role of this collaboration in improving the living conditions of the Ivorian population.
